Herdade da Nespereira

Herdade da Nespereira is a magnificent historic estate that consists of 294 acres (119 hectares) and an exceptional 4 bedroom house with a swimming pool. Peaceful seclusion and proximity to nature are hallmarks of this luxurious, exceedingly private estate. Nespereira is a gentle landscape surrounded by undulating hills and a wide valley with a river. The elevated position of the main house affords it sublime tranquility and panoramic views over the estate’s countryside.

The outstanding views are not obstructed by pylons as the electricity cables are subterranean. The paths surrounding the property and along the river are an ideal way to immerse yourself in nature. The land is near to a pretty rural hamlet and 15 kilometers from the beach.

The Main House

The main house is beautifully presented throughout and comprises nearly 495 square meters (5,300 square feet) of spacious accommodation with 4 ensuite double bedrooms. It has a swimming pool, a pool house (80 square meters), dining terraces and a large wooden outhouse for storing bikes and maintenance equipment.

The master bedroom occupies one half of the H shaped house designed for total privacy. The ensuite marble bathroom has a free standing bath and a walk in shower. The bedroom has a large dressing room with custom-built wardrobes. It has two separate private terraces. One in the interior courtyard and the other which has views of the river. This wing of the house also contains a private sitting room and a private study room with built in traditional library shelving.

The contemporary kitchen has been designed to be the connection between the two sides of the house. It has Portuguese marble worktops and an dual fuel Aga cooker. There is a raised seating area with built in seating for relaxed family living or to accommodate guests.

There are 3 large bedrooms on the other side of the house. They all contain individual luxury marble bathrooms. There is a grand hall at the front with solid oak floors and a fireplace which has exceptional views across the valley.

The water for the main house is supplied by an artesian well and the house has underfloor geothermic central heating. In the summer months solar power heats the water.
